Description

And it seems that once again Bethesda has managed to sink their claws directly into me, and I wound up getting overly attached to their worlds and ended up fallen head over heels for one of their characters that is a part of it. However, instead of it being the Elder Scrolls universe this time around, as I did before with Cicero, it's actually the Fallout series and the amazing post apocalyptic world that everything and everyone resides in. :w00t: A bit of a surprising change, considering that I'm mostly a huge fantasy fan, but considering that everyone had always talked about how incredible the Fallout series was -- I couldn't help but be rather curious to see if it lived up to the hype that was floating around it.

Three games later, and far too many hours to even think about adding up altogether, and I think that I ended up walking away with a new favorite series of video games. In other words, it totally did. It's a long insane story, filled with many tears and emotions, but basically what there is that needs to be said is that I adore the Fallout series. :D It has it's flaws, but I really do love it. And more so, I utterly love Fallout 4.

To be perfectly honest, I think it's the best game of the series -- even going past New Vegas and that was my favorite for a long while. But I think one of the main things I really loved most about Fallout 4 was the story, as well as the companion characters. And that's kind of where this drawing comes into play. Because what character did I end up completely falling in love with the moment that the smug detective pain in the butt opened his mouth to speak a form of sass and pop a cigarette into it as I rescued him?

Yeah, that's right. Detective Nick Valentine. :P

Yes, he stole my heart away, and I can't even explain why. I think I could sit here and try to pull out a list of reasons, but one of the main things that I adored most? His tragic backstory, as well as his sense of humor and good heart. :) He was literally not what I expected at all. I was -- well, truly, I don't know what I was expecting. But what I walked away with was an amazing character that, despite all the bigoted prejudice that was against him and who he was, he still did his best to believe in people and do what was right. He was kind, caring, and always looked out for the little people with sweetness and sassiness attached to his words. And honestly, that's my kind of character. Also, considering that he is extremely intelligent, and a detective to boot? Was there ever really any doubt that I would adore him so much? ;)

The game was flawless, but Nick just made it even better. Bethesda always had problems with their companion characters, in my opinion, but goodness gracious did Fallout 4 FINALLY make it RIGHT. They were real, they were relate-able, and darn it all, I JUST WANTED TO HUG AND PROTECT EVERYONE FROM THE BIG BAD WORLD AROUND THEM.

Mostly Nick, though. Because he was my precious darling. And that's where this managed to spring up from. Basically, I was just playing around with his designs -- as Nick's face and his entire structure works differently than most characters that I draw. Some small sketches here and there...but when I took it into Photoshop? I think my brain managed to wiggle itself off of the creative leash that I normally keep it on, and then completely took over FOR ME. Because goodness knows that I never meant for it to get THIS complex. It started with a simple background and then suddenly I was looking up references for Noir Detectives and well -- this happened. ;P

To be honest with you, I don't mind how it turned out. Considering that originally I was having problems with it, as well as the coloring, this whole sudden complexity worked well for it in the end. I really did enjoy playing around with the lighting as well as the shading, and it was pretty awesome. Reminded me of the older drawings I used to do with dramatic lighting themes. So this was really nice to do. Even though it kind of made me stressed out half way through it. But! I worked my way out of the small stress ball and ended up with something rather nice. There are a few issues here and there, that I see after I'm already finished with it. But considering that this is my first real drawing of Nick from Fallout 4 -- I don't think that it's too bad for practice reasons. :D

So yeah, that's really all there is to say about this. I could go on and on about how amazing Nick is, but if you've played the game...I think you would already be well aware of that! :D But in any case, I appreciate you guys taking the time out to read through this description. I know that sometimes I go on and on in regards to reasoning on why I did a drawing, but I honestly can't help it. I get really carried away -- mostly with new characters like Nick -- and I just don't know when to stop. But for now, I think I found that place. And here is where I will stop for now, before any of my watchers get really bored of my running my mouth! :giggle:

Regardless of such silly things like I spoke above! I still just want to take a moment and say that I hope you guys enjoy this new drawing of mine that I did, and hope that you enjoy seeing Nick as well. Gotta love that Detective babe. But still, in any case, thank you so very much for looking and checking all of this out!! And of course, just as I always say at the end of very description: every comment, fave, and view honestly means the world to me! I love you all so much, and until next time! Love Hug Smooooch!

(c): Nick Valentine, Diamond City, Fallout 4, the Fallout Series, as well as all other characters, licenses and titles and whatever else, do not belong to me and never ever will! Sorry to break all of your hearts, but nope! None of it is mine! They belong, instead to their amazing owners from the company of Bethesda! Do I look like Bethesda to you? Nope! Nick Valentine belongs to those lovely people there, and I am not claiming ownership over him or the series he belongs to at all! Ol' Nick is not mine in the slightest, and when it comes right down to it, all I really own is this little drawing that you see above! As I always say, I am nothing more than an artistic hobo! Thus, no suing please, because I really can't afford it!! ;P
